The
Story Behind Indamer and the Airplane Names
Indamer
Company was founded as an Airline Operator in 1947 and later
became a Distributor for Beech Aircraft. Indamer Company is
presently the Raytheon Aircraft Authorized Service Center in
India, providing sales and service for Beechcraft and Hawker
Products. Indamer has hangarage and maintenance both in New
Delhi and Mumbai Airports, including Juhu and is authorized by
the Indian Director General of Civil Aviation (D.G.C.A.).
Indamer
Company first promoted the sale of a number of fixed wing
single engine Bonanzas, then the Twin Beech Aircraft and later
on the Beechcraft King Air Turboprop, which has been the main
stay of Indian Civil Aviation and has been well accepted by
not only Indian Corporate Companies, but also State
Governments and Training Institutes and has even adapted well
to medical evacuation and special mission roles.
Raytheon
Aircraft, which was formed in 1980’s took over Beechcraft
and Hawker Jets. Raytheon Aircraft has introduced the new
light entry jet known as the Beechcraft Premier 1A which
complements the latest state-of-the-art Jet Aircraft after a
long history of Beechcraft products such as the piston engine
Bonanza and Turboprop King Air Aircraft.
The
Hawker brand has several jets of which the 850XP has the
longest pedigree. The Hawker 800XP mid-sized jet along with
the light jet Hawker 400XP will be complemented by the new
Hawkers 750 / 900XP and the super-midsize jet Hawker 4000.
Indamer has successfully promoted Hawker Jets in the Indian
Territory and has Indian DGCA approval for support and
maintenance.
Beech
Walter
and Olive Ann Beech formed Beech Aircraft Corporation in 1932.
Their first product was the Beech Staggerwing, a classic cabin
biplane design that could cruise at more than 200 miles per
hour and carry five passengers in comfort and style. The
Staggerwing established the reputation that has made the Beech
name synonymous with reliability and quality for nearly eight
decades. The Company grew larger manufacturing military
training aircraft during World War II. In the post-war era it
became a leader in Business Aviation.
Mr.
Walter Beech served as Chief Executive of the Company until
his death in 1950. Mrs. Olive Ann Beech succeeded him at the
helm, and guided the company until her retirement in 1982.
Under her leadership, Beech became a subsidiary of Raytheon
Company in 1980. Mrs. Beech died in 1993. Mrs. Olive Ann Beech
was recipient of prestigious aviation awards. The Kitty Hawk
Sands of Time Award, The Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy and
the Aviation Hall of Fame.
Hawker
Harry
Hawker, a native of Australia emigrated to England and joined
Sopwith Aviation Company. He learned to fly there, became its
Chief Test Pilot and played a pivotal role in the design of
the Sopwith Camel. Harry Hawker died in a flight test accident
in 1921 but the H.G. Hawker Engineering Company he formed
would go on to develop many significant aircraft, including
the Hawker Hurricane Fighter and the Hawker Harrier Jump Jet.
In
1960 the Hawker Siddeley Company acquired the De Havilland
Aircraft Company, which was just completing work on a new
mid-sized business jet. It was introduced as the Hawker
Siddeley-125, which became known simply as the Hawker.
Raytheon acquired the Hawker business jets from British
Aerospace in 1993.

Aircraft Company (RAC) was formed on 15th September, 1994,
combining Raytheon Company subsidiaries – Beech Aircraft
Company and Raytheon Corporate Jets Inc. Raytheon Aircraft
Company has two product lines of Beechcraft and Hawker
aircraft ranging from high-performance piston singles to
medium size jets. It was the leading company in Business
Aviation.

subsidiaries of Raytheon Company based in Lexington, Mass.,
U.S.A. Raytheon is an international technology-based company
active in electronics, aircraft products and Air Traffic
Control. It is a major Defence supplier.
