Overview
The Motorola GM338 is a mobile radio covering low-band (29.7-50 MHz), VHF (136-174 MHz) and UHF (403-527 MHz) frequencies, with 128 programmable channels (160 on the related GM398 variant) and selectable channel spacing of 12.5, 20, 25 or 30 kHz. Power output scales with band, from 1-25W on VHF and UHF up to 25-45W and 25-40W respectively on the GM338, and 40-60W on low-band, drawing from a 13.2Vdc negative-ground vehicle supply. Receiver sensitivity is rated at 0.22uV on VHF/UHF and 0.25uV on low-band, with 3W of internal rated audio output extendable to 7.5W or 13W through an external speaker. The radio operates across -30C to +60C, passes rain testing to IP54, and meets MIL-STD 810-C, D and E along with TIA/EIA 603 for shock, vibration, dust and humidity.
